A driver who received money for driving a celebrity to an event in a private ambulance was sentenced to prison and a fine.
On the 15th, Incheon District Court Criminal Division 5 Judge Hong Jun-seo announced that he sentenced Mr. A (44), who was sent to trial on charges of violating the Emergency Medical Services Act and driving without a license under the Road Traffic Act, to 1 year and 6 months in prison and a fine of 2 million won.
Mr. A was indicted on charges of putting singer B in a private ambulance in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do스포츠토토 in March 2018 and driving him to an event venue in Seongdong-gu, Seoul.
An official from Mr. B’s company said that traffic jams could be avoided by using a private ambulance, and gave Mr. A’s contact information to an event agency employee, and this employee asked Mr. A to give Mr. B a ride. It was found that Mr. A moved Mr. B in exchange for 300,000 won.
The prosecution also briefly indicted Mr. B and his company officials on charges of violating the Emergency Medical Services Act in this case.
Mr. A, who has a history of drunk driving, is also suspected of driving an ambulance without a license from August 2021 to March of last year.
Judge Hong said, “There is a need to severely punish with prison sentences for violations of the Emergency Medical Services Act due to illegal operation of ambulances, etc., and violations of the Road Traffic Act (driving without a license),” and added, “We took into account various conditions such as the age of the defendant and the motive for the crime.” The reasons for sentencing were explained.
